I hope you weren't using American Eagle 180grain ball ammo (red box)
It performs no better than the .40 cal.

Hows the kick on those 29's? You using a grip extension? Have you shot the 27? If so, how does the recoil compare?

Kick is minimal and I was shooting 180gr Hornady's, 155 gr Hornady's and Winchester 175 gr - Wife shot it and liked it as well.
I have owned and fired a G27 and the kick is more with the G27 my opinion.

Those Winchester 175gr Silvertips perform sweetly through the 6" Lone Wolf barrel on my 20 and RZ10.
For a while they were hard to find, but I have a nice stash.

EA 10mm goodness is big fun too.

If you need 175gr silvertips let me know I can get them (just the bullets that is) - Now, how do you like that RZ10 thinking about that vs the Colt vs the CBOB 10 ?

Say, anyone ever shoot those 10mm Double-Tap 230gr 'equalizers'?
I just had a couple boxes show up that were backordered so long that I forgot about requesting them.

Allegedly pushing 135gr. JHP over a 95gr. lead ball @ 1040fps with the ball hitting high every time - less than one inch from the JHP @ 10yds and 2.5" from the JHP @ 25yds

I honestly don't remember how long ago they were ordered....but into the bin they go, well......most of them. Gotta try them out :D

They show an actual flat nose 230gr bullet - I have never seen a commercial bullet maker with a 230gr bullet so I'm assuming they cast their own???

Also, does Winchester sell the 180gr .40 / 10mm PDX1 bonded bullets commercially I have looked and can't find any around?

I have the 27 and 29. To answer the question, recoil stronger by far on 29 (using hot loads). still not a problem if you''re on the range a lot.

All in the load. i have the early Horn. 200 gr rated at 1410 fps printed on the box. Obviously that is from a test barrel- but the round is what makes it kick. That's why the 40 came about. They took out half the powder to articially slow it down and diminish recoil, and figured why waste brass? Shorten it to make a 40SW. The shelf 10 stuff today is Way down, apples to apples, using win st in ea you are right. my point simply is why load a 44mag to 9mm levels? Defeats the reason for even having a 10mm. Appreciate your comments though. Good discussion is always fun.

AE40R1 40 S&W 400 377 358 340 324

Seems that some loads of 10mm are watered down and are almost identical, statistically, to ball .40 s&w ammo.

Only when using the higher end self defense rounds does an increase in performance over the .40 become apparent...

I have two 10mms, Kimber and a CZ, Double tap in any flavor does well in both. there is a slight dif in group size, but all in all double tap works great for for me.

I have had a S&W 1006 and it was "literally" a heavy BRICK of metal - but a great shooter nonetheless, and I wish I never sold it, as they are truly difficult to get your hands on these days.

If I was going the 1911 10mm route it would be the DW RazorBack fer sure -

Forget the Colt Delta (Colt has lost their luster and now subscribe to: "The most amount of money, for the least amount of effort, in the quickest amount of time" train of thought and new age manufacturing creed -!!! Really such a hard fall from Grace - oh well.

Anyway, I picked up a new G20SF to go with my G29 and G22RTF -

I also have a Les Baer custom two tone black frame / Hard chrome slide, night sights with the 1.5inch guarantee Thunder Ranch full 5 inch baby on the way chambered in .45acp - need to pay for that before I get any DW's ...

10mm's rock, no question. I carry a G29 regularly, stoked with Double Tap 180gr bonded, but have several others... Delta Elite, Kimber, iAi Javelina, Witness Hunter, Para P16... and a Sig 220 conversion on the way. Recoil is stout, but reassuring.

Thehammer, have you ever heard of the Glock 10mm pistols cracking(frame)?

I think Jay or MO were talking about it.
I have always been a glock fan though and regardless still glove my glocks...

Glad people are still keeping the 10mm popular.

1st gen G20 had issues cracking. Also glock smilies from the non supported chamber when firing full power 10mm.

I havent had any issues with cracking on mine and have just under 1000 rounds through it (glock 29).

its all about the double tap ammo, if I am putting "nice" ammo in the gun, it has to be double tap. Ill use blazers and umc if i'[m just heading out to the desert to shoot crap, but if im carrying....double tap all the way.

I would absolutely recomend the pearce grip extensions, they make all the difference in the world. I love 10mm, I love my glock 29 and I love DT ammo.

for reference, I use the following DT loads

-200g FMJ-for woods protection
-165g bonded defence for carry
-135g HP for the home

that being said, I have put about every type of DT ammo through it, including the equalizers which are cool.

I didn't know CZ made a 10mm weapon. They must be quite rare.
