Re: FN 5.7x28 Brass. How many reloading cycles?
As long as you take care of the coating and load plinker loads you can get 5 to 7 reloads on the brass. At this point the coating will give out, but not an issue since the shoulder will give out and most importantly the primer pockets. 5.7 is hell on primer pockets, even with light loads. Often prim...

Re: S&W M&P5.7
Well no matter what pistol you fire 5.7 from it puts brass in low earth orbit, much CZ's do.
If you had a FsN I would recommend My/EA's HD recoil spring.
Less shoulder movement, up tick in velocity and the brass only flies 8 feet.

No they aren't OEM and they are pure shit.
Their springs suck.
The feed lip area of their mags fall apart and often owners have to glue them back together.
Their feed rollers often have flash on them also causing issues.

And that was the case for FsN's also. Small batches work. Most often there is a build up of coating on the chamber. The reloads work until that coating wears out and then case separations occur. Also while you have to crimp 5.7 for best results be careful to NOT over crimp the VG. If you over crimp the thin jacket will give way and you will crack the epoxy holding the core together causing it to crumble . This will cause the thin jacket to collapse in.

Re: Slowest powder for 5.7??
Big flaky ball powder like that does not meter well into the small 5.7 cases. It's really easy to load a over pressure round when you push it to the limits.

Re: Lil'Gun for Ruger LC Carbine
Seems you're on to some interesting load data, at least for the Ruger carbine. I wonder how these would do in an AR57 setup with the heavy 8.5oz buffer Toprudder is using for his load development. Regardless, I'd like to get Panzer's take on how these might operate in an SBR'd PS90 or any of the 5....

Neck separation is not the issue. The case not sealing and staying in the chamber would be.

Re: Lil'Gun for Ruger LC Carbine
A few months ago I purchased a Labradar when they became available again. I installed the app on my iPhone and all worked great. Then there was an upgrade to the app, and I found out there is a known problem with the latest version, it disconnects at random, and the Labradar settings can't be chang...

Lab Radar is one I haven't, but Matt Hoffman AKA Buffman RANGE, the guy who makes all those video testing my/EA's ammo, he had one for awhile and did NOT like it and had enough issues he stopped using it and went back to the Pro Chrono II. So I trust Matt, a LOT, and his opinions. Combine that with ...

Re: Lil'Gun for Ruger LC Carbine
A note on QL. All of their models used for their software simulations are based on US government GI/DOD tests that established parameters based off of current, at the time, military loads. Side note, many of these are from WW2, shot at night over a dead calm lake and looking at the impact points in ...

There is a whole lot here, and thank you for the post. "I also noted that from 8.5gr to 8.8gr, it looked like velocities had leveled out" One thing to keep in mind, the 5.7 case does not seal into the chamber like a conventions cartridge. Essentially while under full pressure the case, your pressure...

Well it is a delayed blow back, just gas operated. Truth be told gas delay is better than mechanical but costs more to make and with S&W track record quality wise the last few years I am not sure just how good this gun it. It's grip angle is shit. I and a few others here have known about it for over...

Re: Which projectile for handloaded defensive ammo?
I/EA switched from the V-max for the primary reason of performance. While the V-max is a great bullet, it's a very old design. Nolser still makes thier version of the V-max with a green polymer tip and in the past we used that also for the Pro1. Now that said Nosler came out with their newly designe...

Re: Which projectile for handloaded defensive ammo?
40gr Vmax is no joke when loaded to full power. EA used it in the Protector 1 for years until I replaced it with a better, more modern designed Nosler Varmageddon . The 40V-max can easily rip through a lvl2 vest and do massive damage. https://youtu.be/g0RC4_8Nt60 https://youtu.be/2idqn7FM2bo

Another brand new owner of an AR57 in one of the FB groups is having this exact same problem of the rounds not chambering all the way.
I shared a link to this post with him
Just a heads up in case this turns into some sort of trend.

Re: PSA: Double charged round
The real solution is to start loading on a 550 or 650 :) 550 I would agree, 650 not so much since there is not automated powder check system. This post is a very important lesson about things that can go wrong. Shit happens. It's a cautionary tail about being careful and props to being honest and s...

Re: Consequences of Punched Primers
Your pressure numbers are a little off. FYI technically it's not the firing pin punching the hole but the primer back flowing into the firing pin channel and the channel acting like a hole punch. It can build up over time and, as you witnessed, damage parts. I made a video about what to look for and...
