Is cleaning brass necessary every time?

Post by Hntr58 » 26 Jun 2020, 19:50

New to reloading the 5.7 round. I see everyone talking about cleaning the brass and the lacquer coating, My question is do you need to clean the brass every time you reload it? I don’t do that with most cartridges I load for. Is this critical with this one?

No not really, normally the 5.7 is pretty clean burning. Some folks though size and deprime separately lubing when they do this.
You need to remove the lube so a fast warm water simplegreen bath and rinse does the trick.

Does the case sizing lube need to be removed? What happens if you don't?

Yes otherwise it can contaminate the powder or primer.
