FNAR, ACCURATE AS BOLT RIFLE?

Ive read that the fnar is equally as accurate as the fn bolt actions?this goes against everything ive been taught about the difference in bolt and semi auto rifles! Is this just marketing hype or are they really equal in accuracy out of the box?Can one accurize a semi the same degree as a one can a bolt rifle? Im looking to buy a good med-long range 500m+ and trying to decide?

Accurate as a PBR? Probably.


Accurate as an SPR? No way in hell.

There's not gonna be much you can do to improve the accuracy of the FNAR, and there's nothing i would even consider doing to an SPR or even PBR, the PBR just isn't meant for that purpose.

You looking for practical accuracy or uber paper punching accuracy?

FN states that the FNAR must shoot sub 1 MOA before leaving the factory.

They would not be the only autoloading rifles to do so. But high quality? Absolutely.

I think most of us in general, esp. me, get wrapped up in numbers and MOA.

This is a fallacy, IMHO, because most of us cannot shoot what the rifle is capable of and also premium ammo is needed to even attempt these shots.

For the average shooter, you won't know the difference.

Now, if your application calls for fast follow up shots, pick the FNAR. If you want traditional singe shots, then go for the bolt.

application calls for ACCURACY and if the rifle-scope isnt capable then shooter is wasting$ and time!just my opinion. targets always tell the truth without saying a word! I really like the spr its just too bad its not offered in 338 lapua! for 18+ i want more than 308...

I'm shooting sub MOA at 100 yards with west german surplus and a Mark 4 leupold on mine. Could she be a bit more accurate? Yeah, but I'm not a professional sniper trying to shot the ass off a flea at 1000 meters.

Can I blow up coke bottles filled with water at 200 meters? All day long.

For me, the scope makes all the difference on this gun.

Military issued Mark 4 LRT M3 Leupold. It's the older fixed 10 power that our marine snipers used up until a few years ago. We had a few in the shop that we were using back on an older project to try and fit them to a flat top M16A4 a while back. After we were done, we transfered them to DRMO and I bought it cheap the next day.

As long as you know how to use a mildot scope, you can't go wrong with it.

Yes, or equal to my A3G. I got a little tired of Bolt-Rifles for a while and waited since I had the inside scoop on the release of the FNAR, before it came out (I love BAR's, old and new).

Used M118LR (American Ballistics Technology-new lot 8AUG2009), 100 Meters, no wind, less than 1 inch, 10 rounds, eight seconds to fire. It drives tacks, and I leave the ole A3G in the closet now.

I'm using a Leupold Mark 4 LR/T 4.5-14X50, Ill TMR Reticle.... It's the best for follow-up shots, I can actually see what I'm hitting far away, and be available for another shot even faster. I'll try to uplod the image, notice the staples on the top and left for reference... staples are 1/2"
