New Five Seven Mark II - very stiff slide release

I just bought a new Five Seven today - rented one, had fun shooting, and walked over to the counter and bought one.

At least on an empty mag, the slide release is pretty stout, I can barely release the slide. Is it easier on a loaded mag? Or does it loosen up over time?

The Five Seven I rented did not have this issue - worked pretty easily.
